“PARTNERS N CRIME”
This “PARTNERS N CRIME” article will detail the current Top 5 NBA Back-Courts in the NBA today. Each players’ current statistics and salary will be provided. We will provide a summary of why we ranked the back-court duo’s the way we did. We present to you “PARTNERS N CRIME”.
#5: WASHINGTON WIZARDS
JOHN WALL: 19.7PTS, 4.7REB,9.8AST (SALARY: $14,728,844)
BRADLEY BEAL: 18.3PTS, 3.5REB, 2.9AST (SALARY: $5,694,673)
SUMMARY: This explosive tandem would be a couple spots higher on our list if it wasn’t for Beal’s injury concerns. He has already missed over 20 games due to leg problems. Wall has improved each year in the league and is now a bona-fide superstar. If Beal can ever stay healthy, these 2 have the chance to be a tandem that will be remembered for a very long time.
#4: LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS
CHRIS PAUL: 19.5PTS, 9.5AST, 3.9REB (SALARY: $21,468,695)
JJ REDICK: 16.6PTS, 1.8REB, 1.4AST (SALARY: $7,085,000)
SUMMARY: Paul is having another superb season as he is on his way to the Hall of Fame when his playing days are over. The surprise to us is the emergence of JJ Redick who is now more than just a spot up jump-shooter. Redick now has the ability to put the ball on the floor and drive, while Paul can set him up whenever he wants. Redick is one of the bigger bargains in the NBA as he is making a shade over 7-million dollars. This tandem will have to play even better if the Clippers expect to go deep into the playoffs.
#3: PORTLAND TRAILBLAZERS
DAMIAN LILLARD: 25.1PTS, 7.2AST, 4.2 REB (SALARY: 4,236,286) SIGNED A 5-YEAR, 120 MILLION DOLLAR CONTRACT THAT STARTS NEXT SEASON
CJ McCOLLUM: 21.1PTS, 4.3AST, 3.6REB (SALARY: $2,525,160)
SUMMARY: This explosive duo came to the NBA via mid-major programs. Lillard went to Weber State and McCollum attended Lehigh. Lillard has been a proven All-Star for a few seasons, however it is the phenomenal play of McCollum that has this tandem so highly thought of. McCollum had a few up and down seasons to start his career, although he has now proven just what a player he is. The former Lehigh great is averaging over 20 points a game and is capable of playing both guard spots. Portland has been a surprising team in the Western Conference and these 2 players are the reason why. The best part about this duo? They haven’t reached their respective prime. Watch these 2 play if you ever get the opportunity.
#2: TORONTO RAPTORS
DeMAR DeROZAN: 23.5PTS, 4.3REB, 4AST (SALARY: $9,500,00)
KYLE LOWRY: 21PTS, 6.4AST, 4.9REB (SALARY: $12,000,000)
SUMMARY: This duo are the main reasons for the Raptors success. Both players have steadily improved each season to where they are now multiple All-Stars. They are the most athletic group on this list. Lowry lost weight in the off-season and it shows in his explosiveness. DeRozan was always a supreme athlete who has become a very good-shooter. These 2 players are just entering the prime of their respective careers and are the leaders of the franchise. Since they play in Toronto, they don’t get as much publicity as other players. However, they are in our opinion the 2nd best back-court in the NBA.
#1: GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS
STEPH CURRY: 30PTS, 6.6AST, 5.3REB (SALARY: $11,370,786)
KLAY THOMPSON: 21.8PTS, 3.7REB, 2.2AST ($15,501,000)
SUMMARY: Simply put they are the best shooting back-court tandem in NBA history and both players are just entering their prime. While both players aren’t considered elite defensive players, the offense they provide clearly makes up for it. Curry is having a better season then his MVP one a year ago and is on his way to a second straight MVP award. Thompson is the perfect running mate with extraordinary range. The playoffs are fast approaching and fans of basketball must watch these 2 players in action. They are must-see T.V.
