Miles Bridges 2018 NBA Draft Scouting Report
COLLEGE: MICHIGAN STATE
WEIGHT: 230 POUNDS
POSITION: SMALL FORWARD/POWER FORWARD
PROJECTED DRAFT POSITION: LATE LOTTERY
Bridges would have been a lottery pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. Instead, he decided to return to Michigan State to improve his game and to win a national championship. The sophomore is one of the best athletes in college basketball. He should be a lottery selection in the 2018 NBA Draft.
We consider Bridges to be a “tweener”. He isn’t big enough to play power forward and isn’t quick enough to be a small forward. What he is however, is a really good basketball player. In today’s NBA era, position-less basketball is becoming more of the norm. If you can play, there will be a spot for you.
The former McDonald’s All-American is a very athletic combo forward. He is as aggressive a player as there is in the country. He attacks the rim with ferocity. The lefty shooting Bridges has improved his all-around shooting since last year. This was a concern among NBA scouts. He now shows the ability to hit the 3-point shot with consistency. He is a rock solid rebounder, which is a skill that translates to the NBA level. Like most MSU players, he gets after it on the defensive end of the court.
Bridges is going to need to tighten up his ball-handling and passing for the next level. He doesn’t have much of a low-post game at this point in his development. He presses the issue at times on the offensive end, which can lead to careless turnovers. Bridges, who made our 2017-18 Pre-Season All-American team projects as a good defender for the NBA level.
How much he progresses on the the offensive end will ultimately decide how good of an NBA player he will be. Is he a future full-time NBA starter? Or is he a rotational player that can impact a game coming off the bench? He reminds us as a bigger Justice Winslow. Miles Bridges is one of the tougher players to project for the next level that will be in the 2018 NBA Draft.

SNIPPETS OF MILES BRIDGES 2017 NBA DRAFT SCOUTING REPORT
“Miles Bridges is a very powerful and athletic player. He has played both SF/PF. For him to reach his potential at the NBA level, we believe he will have to play small forward as he only stands 6’6″ and is too small for PF. The most important thing for Bridges has been the development in his shooting. He has made strides as the college season has gone on. However, he is still inconsistent with his overall shooting. Perhaps more than any other player in this draft, his individual workouts with NBA teams leading up to the June draft will be critical. He is going to have to show scouts that he can knock down shots from the perimeter consistently.”
