SCOUTING REPORT

It feels like Grayson Allen has been at Duke forever. After a very good sophomore year, expectations were sky-high for the senior. He made our 2016-17 pre-season All-American team. However, last year proved to be a roller coaster. Immaturity issues and up and down play made the shooting guard return for his senior year. It looks like he made the right move.

Allen is the lone senior on a freshman laden Duke team. He seems to have matured. The SG is averaging 17 points per game through the first 13 games of the season. He is the leader for head coach Mike Krzyzewski. At this point in time it looks like Allen has a good shot at being a first round pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.

As we wrote in his 2017 scouting report, we believe Grayson Allen can be a solid rotational player in the NBA. He sports above average athletic ability. His long range shooting ability should land him a role coming off the bench for an NBA team. We look for Grayson Allen to have a solid NBA career who can help a team’s 2nd unit out with his scoring ability.

SNIPPET OF GRAYSON ALLEN 2017 NBA DRAFT SCOUTING REPORT

“The talented SG was suspended by Duke for a game during the regular season for tripping an opponent. His game suffered badly around the half-way point of the season.”

“On talent alone, we believe he is a first round pick. However, due to the fact that this NBA Draft heavy on talent along with his character concerns, we can see Allen slipping to the beginning of the second round. If he does, the team that selects him just might be getting a steal. Allen should be a very useful piece in an NBA rotation. He just might surprise.”
