Very good to 5 although i wouldn’t have Oregon in there with the injury to Brooks. I would move UNC up into their spot.

    1. Hi Phil,
You have a valid question. Both teams are excellent. I think the loss of point guard Marcus Paige is going to be bigger than people realize. He was the glue for UNC last year. The Tarheels also lose All-American Brice Johnson, who was a first round pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. Oregon returns almost their entire team from last season. I also believe that the loss of Dillon Brooks from injury is going to help the Ducks in the long run. It will make other players step up their games so when Brooks comes back from injury he will have more help beside him. You really can’t go wrong with either team. They are both so talented.

I don’t know much about this year’s St. Mary’s squad, but I love to see you giving a great program like that some love!

    1. Hi Tom,
While writing our college basketball preview, there were a few teams that really intrigued us. One of those teams was Saint Mary’s. They won 29 games left season but didn’t make the NCAA tournament. That shouldn’t be the case this year. They return all of their key players this season. The Gaels have won 20+ games 9 years in a row, which not too many people know about. We believe they are one of the better “mid-major” teams in the country. While Gonzaga is the top team in the WCC, Saint Mary’s will be right there with them. Randy Bennett is a very good coach. Remember the name Emmett Naar. He is a very good guard.
