HIGH SCHOOL PLAYER PROFILES (V.J. KING)

V.J. KING

#24 RANKED PLAYER IN COUNTRY (CLASS OF 2016)

STAR RANKING: 5 STARS

HEIGHT: 6’7″

WEIGHT: 185 POUNDS

AGE: 19 YEARS OLD

POSITION: SMALL FORWARD

HIGH SCHOOL: PAUL VI IN OHIO

CHOSE LOUISVILLE OVER: KENTUCKY, INDIANA, MICHIGAN STATE, AMONG MANY OTHERS

NBA COMPARISON:  RIP HAMILTON

PLAYER SUMMARY: V.J. King has prototypical size for the small forward position. He is headed to Louisville next season to play for Hall of Fame coach Rick Pitino.

When watching film of King, the first thing that jumped out to me was his jump-shooting. He has an excellent mid-range game, which reminds me of former NBA veteran Rip Hamilton. He is a very good passer for his size with solid ball-handling skills.

With his height, passing skills, and ball-handling, he has a total mismatch against anybody he plays against at the high school level. His athletic ability allows him to thrive n transition, however from what I have seen he is just as good in a half-court setting.

Like most high school players, King will need to add strength and weight once he gets to Louisville. I have been very impressed by watching King’s tapes and I personally would have him rated a little higher than the 24th best prospect in the class of 2016. He has all the necessary attributes to be an impact player from Day 1 and will add a needed wing presence for Louisville. He is a perfect fit for the type of offense and defense that Rick Pitino likes to run.
