POSITION: POWER FORWARD

CHOSE UNIVERSITY OF KENTUCKY OVER: NOTRE DAME, VIRGINIA, AMONG MANY OTHERS

NBA COMPARISON:  ED DAVIS/ BUT MORE ATHLETIC

PLAYER SUMMARY: Killeya-Jones was originally committed to Virginia but had a change of heart. That change of heart led him to Lexington, Kentucky and John Calipari. Killeya-Jones fills a big need for the Wildcats as Kentucky’s front-court didn’t play up to their usual high standards.

Killeya-Jones is only 17-years old so he might not be done growing. He sports a 7-2 wingspan. When watching him on film his athletic ability really stands out. He moves like a player much smaller. We believe John Calipari might use Killeya-Jones as a “stretch 4” due to his ability to shoot the basketball. He shows very nice form on his shot. He also has a nice array of offensive moves in the post, which includes a nice little turnaround jump-hook.

Killeya-Jones needs to improve his rebounding ability. We have seen him on film get pushed around by smaller players. It is imperative that he gets on a weight training program as he needs to get much stronger. Kentucky is renowned for their strength and conditioning program so this should help him. The number 26 ranked player in the class of 2016 has the ability to be a solid defender in time.

We like Sacha Killeya-Jones overall game. Remember he is young for his class and won’t turn 18 until right before the season begins. He is a work in progress who shows a vast amount of ability. It just needs to be refined and there is no better college coach in the country than John Calipari when it comes to player development. He has a prototypical frame when it comes to projecting a player.

Sacha Killeya-Jones is a really interesting and intriguing prospect. He is part of a recruiting class that is ranked number 1 by a majority of analysts. With Skal Labissiere and Alex Poythress moving on to the NBA there is playing time to be had for Killeya-Jones. He shows a lot of promise. He might struggle in the beginning of the season, however once he grows into his body and gets acclimated to the college game he should be a really nice player.
