PLAYER SUMMARY: Kobi Simmons is one of the top 5 high school point guards in the class of 2016. He committed to the Arizona Wildcats and Head Coach Sean Miller will love his PG of the future.

Simmons has great size for the PG position. At 6’5″, he sees the floor extremely well. After watching numerous game footage of Simmons, he looks like a very smooth athlete who should thrive in Arizona’s up-tempo system. His game is tailor made for the way head coach Sean Millers’ teams play. He has a solid jump-shot, although like the majority of young players he can definitely improve in this area.

The potential is there for Simmons to be an outstanding defensive player. With his size he should wreak havoc on opposing point guards when he plays in the Pac-12 next season. Although 6’5″, Simmons needs to gain strength in order to handle the rigors of college basketball. He plays better in an up-tempo style then a half-court game and will need to improve his decision-making.

At the high school level he is asked to score, although once he gets to big-time college basketball, he will be asked to set up and run the offense. He certainly has the ability and talent to do this, although it will take time. He will need to improve his 3-point shooting as Arizona loves its players to shoot from behind the arc.

I believe Kobi Simmons will be a perfect fit at Arizona. His individual talents fits the Wildcats system perfectly. Even though I believe he is a notch below fellow Class of 2016 PG’s Dennis Smith JR. and Lonzo Ball, Simmons has a chance to be a really good player who is only scratching the surface of his potential. Once he adds weight and improves his decision-making, the Pac-12 point guards will need to watch out.
