SCOUTING REPORT

Head Coach Ben Howland has done a very good job at attracting highly rated prep prospects to Starksville. He landed a player in the class of 2018 who will have an immediate impact for the Bulldogs. Reggie Perry is a 5-star recruit is a very athletic PF who has a very nice and versatile overall game. Perry originally commited to Arkansas in 2017 before de-committing and signing with Mississppi State.

The 6’8″ Perry already looks like a high major player. He is very well built and has good athletic ability. His combination of strength, versatility, and athleticism is what separates him from the majority of high school big-men. He is a unique player. What impresses us when watching him play is his ability to score from all 3 levels. This is why we believe he will be utilized as a combo forward when he gets to college. Weighing around 245 pounds, Perry has a really soft touch for a 6’8″ player. He can knock down the mid-range jumper and has range out to the college 3-point line already. Down on the block, he overpowers high school competition. However, he will need to develop a few low-post moves for the college game. Right now, he gets by because he is simply a much better player than what he is facing. He does show flashes of nice footwork, however. To maximize his potential, developing a low-post game will be important going forward.

The Georgia prep star is a fierce rebounder on both ends of the floor. He is a good outlet passer and runs the floor extremely well for a player his size. Perry is an unselfish player from what we have seen. We believe that while he will be a combo forward most likely that the “stretch-4” position would suit him best. He would cause match-up problems on a nightly basis due to his ability to score from the outside and his strength and improving low post game on the inside.

We project the number 12 rated prospect in the class of 2018 as a big time college player. We would be surprised if he wasn’t. Perry has all the attributes of a future NBA player. It is rare to see a player with his size and weight combination to have such a nice all-around game. Ben Howland probably wishes he had Reggie Perry this season. Howland will be getting a college ready made player who will be a major addition to the Bulldogs program. Once he becomes more polished, we believe he can be an All-SEC player and future first round NBA draft pick. His upside is extremely high.
