SCOUTING REPORT

The Tarheel’s love to play a fast paced game. Roy Williams landed himself a player who fits in perfectly with North Carolina’s style of play. Nassir Little will be the most talented small forward the Tarheel’s have had since Justin Jackson was leading UNC to the national championship during the 2016-17 season.

Nassir Little is perhaps the most talented player Roy Williams has landed in the past 5 seasons. The 6’7″ Little has great size for the SF position. He is a real long athlete as he sports a 7-1 wingspan. The 5-star recruit has a college made body right now as this will help him combat the rigors of a college season. What we really like about Little is the fact that he is a true 2-way player. Being able to make an impact on both ends of the floor will get him immediate playing time. In fact, he should be an immediate starter in Chapel Hill.

We feel Little has the ability to play both forward spots. He has shown that he can score with his back to the basket. He can also move away from the basket and hit the mid-range jumper with consistency. He can perhaps play the stretch 4 when UNC goes to a smaller lineup. This would cause mismatch problems. Little is a load to handle when attacking the rim. With his powerful body, he is virtually unstoppable at the high school level. Once he gets a consistent 3-point shot, he will be a very tough cover for any defender.

The small forward’s defensive ability will delight the Tarheel fans. Little gets after it and can guard multiple positions, which is an important trait to have. It will allow Roy Williams to come up with a variety of schemes. The SF is very active and has the lateral quickness and foot speed to guard smaller and quicker players. His wingspan helps him get into the passing lanes to get tipped passes and steals. He rebounds the ball very well on both ends of the court.

The Florida prep high school star is a very intriguing 2-way player who should make an immediate impact for North Carolina. He does everything on the basketball court well. As his natural progression as a player continues, we can see Nassir Little having an excellent, albeit brief UNC career. He has the talent to leave school early and enter the NBA Draft. He is the type of talent that can make a good team into a great team.
