PLAYER SUMMARY: The last 5 star recruit to commit to a college is Brian Bowen. Rick Pitino is a happy man as he landed one of the top 20 players in the class of 2017 and a great small forward.

Bowen played at one of the premier high school basketball programs in the country. La Lumiere was on television a few times this year. After watching Bowen on television and film, we believe he will have an immediate impact for Louisville.

At 6’7″, he has great size for the small forward position. His scoring ability is what impressed us the most. Bowen can score in a variety of ways, which makes him such a hard cover. He can drive it to the basket and finish with dunking. He has a very smooth mid-range game, which we really like. He also shows the ability to post-up smaller defenders and use his turnaround jump-shot to score.

He will need to improve upon his 3-point shooting ability, however, we believe that he will once he heads to college. If he can consistently hit the 3-pointer in the future, he will have as good an offensive skill-set as anyone besides Michael Porter Jr.

The high school star is a solid rebounder and defender with room to improve. This should come once he gains weight. It is imperative that he gets on a strength and conditioning program and work hard at it. As good as he is now, he will be that much better with another 15 pounds added onto his body.

Bowen is not an elite athlete but is a very good one. He has a high basketball IQ and is a good passer. He can do everything on the basketball court very well, except hit the 3-pointer, which will come.

Louisville landed a potential star in Brian Bowen. We really like his game. He isn’t a finished product by any means, which is a good thing. He has the upside that college coaches covet. Bowen has a chance to be a big-time college scorer on the wing and has the looks of a future pro. It is going to be fun to watch his growth as a basketball player play out.
