SAINT PETERS AT NORTHWESTERN (#20)  8PM

SPREAD: NORTHWESTERN -18

OVER/UNDER: 127

GAME PREVIEW:

Northwestern had a very good 2016-17 season. The Wildcats made the NCAA tournament for the first time. Expectations are sky-high for head coach Chris Collins and his team in 2017-18. They return 4 starters and look like they will contend for the BIG 10 conference crown. Saint Peters had high hopes last year and ended up in the CIT. The New Jersey based college ended up winning the CIT championship as they ended the year on a high note. They won 23 games last season and will be contenders for the MAAC crown.

Northwestern struggled in their opening game as they squeaked by Loyola-Maryland 79-75. The Saint Peters Peacocks were not competitive in their opener as they lost to LaSalle 61-40.

While it is technically a home game for the Wildcats, they will be playing all home games this season at AllState Arena in Rosemont, Illinois. A renovation costing $110 million is taking place at their on-campus arena.

The Peacocks will try to slow this game down as they simply do not have the firepower to get in an uptempo style of game against Northwestern. Guard Scottie Lindsey is a pre-season first team All BIG-10 selection. We look for him to have a big game tonight. His back-court mate, PG Bryant McIntosh should be able to get into the lane and have his way against the Peacocks. Simply put, the Wildcats know they didn’t play well in the opener and will come out full-throttle tonight and put a tremendous amount of pressure on Saint Peters.

Northwestern is ranked #20 in the country for a reason. They are a veteran laden team with a very good head coach. After playing below expectations in the opener, they will want to give the home crowd something to cheer about. Saint Peters is clearly over-matched in this game. The Wildcats will win this game going away.

OUR PICK:

TAKE NORTHWESTERN -18

I think u should have went with Missouri over Wagner. Northwestern struggled in game one and u always have to watch out for the Peacocks feom New Jersey.

      Hi,
Again, you make valid points. A reason why I did choose Northwestern was because they struggled in their opener. I thought they would play much better in game 2. They did play better but didn’t cover the point spread. I am very familiar with Saint Peters because I live in New Jersey. What team or teams do you follow?

Nice write up but a better choice would of been Missouri who blew out Wagner. Northwestern struggled in game 1 and the Peacocks from New Jersey always play tough ball.

      Hi,
You made very good points. The reason why I didn’t choose Missouri was because star freshmen Michael Porter Jr. was injured and didn’t play.
