PLAYER SUMMARY: The international crop in this year’s draft is not as strong as the 2016 draft. However, there are a few intriguing players who are overseas that warrant the attention as possible selections. Jonathan Jeanne is one of those players.

Jeanne is a 20-year old currently playing in a tough France professional league. Because he doesn’t receive much playing time, the center was a hard evaluation. However, from what we saw, the 7’2″ big-man has some attributes that can translate to the NBA game.

You can’t teach size, which Jeanne has as well as a 7’7″ inch wing-span.. He really impressed us with his athletic ability for such a big player. He gets up and down the floor really well. He shows the ability to rebound the ball at an efficient rate compared to the playing time he receives.

Jeanne’s best attribute at this point in his development might be his shot-blocking ability. He displays very good timing when swatting shots away. He has average shooting mechanics, which can be improved upon. He has shown the ability to hit the 12-15 foot jump-shot. We have seen him make the occasional 3-pointer from time to time. If he can keep developing his mid-range game, it will make him a more enticing player down the road. Because of his athletic ability and shooting potential, he might be a “stretch-4” down the road, even for a player his size.

Jeanne only weighs around 205-210 pounds. He is very light for a big-man. He doesn’t have much of a low-post game at this time. It is mightily imperative that he gets on a strength and conditioning program. We believe he must gain another 25 pounds before he can play in the NBA.

Jonathan Jeanne is only 20-years old. There is plenty of time for him to develop. In our opinion, the best case scenario for him would be to get drafted and then stay overseas for a few years. By doing this, he can keep developing at his own pace without being rushed. Jeanne has the size and athletic ability to become an NBA player.

However, for his sake and his NBA team, it is probably best that he stays in France and continue to learn the game. If he develops and gains weight, Jeanne might turn out to be a real nice selection in the 2017 NBA Draft. We just might not see the benefits for a few years. He is a player that an NBA organization will definitely take a chance on as he is an intriguing player.
