PROJECTED DRAFT POSITION: MIDDLE OF SECOND ROUND
PLAYER SUMMARY: The international class isn’t as strong as last year’s was. Projected by many to be the 2nd best in this year’s class, behind Rodions Kurucs, is Pasecniks. The big-man doesn’t see many minutes in a very tough professional league. However, he has the size and skills that NBA teams covet and could develop.
Pasecniks is a legitimate 7-footer who is a good athlete. While evaluating him was difficult because of the limited video and game footage that was available, he shows the ability to run the floor well. That is important nowadays in the NBA where centers are quicker and more mobile.
The youngster has a nice shooting touch, which gives us the impression that he will be able to stick on an NBA team in a few years. Big-men who can shoot are always in demand. The potential for his range to expand to the 3-point line is there.
Pasecniks is an average rebounder at this stage. He is playing against grown men and is physically outmatched at this time. Gaining weight must be a priority for him as he advances into his career.
Anzejs Pasecniks has tools that translate into the NBA. However, he is at least a few years away from contributing to an NBA team, in our opinion. His size, athleticism, and shooting ability are pluses. We can see a scenario where he gets selected in the 2nd round and stays overseas for 1-2 more years. Whoever drafts him can see how he develops and then can bring him over to the NBA and hope he can be a role player down the line.
