POSITION: SHOOTING GUARD

CLASS: FRESHMEN

2015-2016 STATISTICS: 17.3PTS, 5.8REB, 1.3AST

PROJECTED DRAFT POSITION:  LOW TO MID 20’S/ HIS WORKOUTS ARE HUGE FOR HIM. CAN HE PLAY PG?

NBA DRAFT COMPARISON: DEVIN BOOKER/ A BETTER ATHLETE THAN BOOKER

PLAYER SUMMARY: Malik Beasley is one half of a dynamic freshmen duo for the Seminoles. Dwayne Bacon forms the other half and is also projected as a 2016 NBA draft first round selection. Beasley has a very sweet and smooth shooting stroke. He displays very good ball-handling and passing abilities and may project as a combo-guard at the NBA level.

At 6’4″, Beasley is undersized for the SG position. I don’t believe he has the ability to run the point guard efficiently enough to play the position in the NBA. However, he has time to dispel that myth. If he shows he has the patience and IQ to handle PG, it will help maximize his value to an NBA team. He needs to improve his decision-making and can get a little sloppy with the ball and play out of control at times.

If Malik Beasley were 2 inches taller he would have a good chance at cracking the NBA lottery. His workouts with NBA teams before the draft are going to be huge for the freshmen. He has the opportunity to move up or down the draft based on his workouts. He will need to show he has enough ability at the point guard position where he can play both PG and SG. This will make him rise and increase his value. Beasley is an elite athlete who can score. In my opinion, his workouts with NBA teams are going to make or break him come NBA Draft night.
