NBA DRAFT COMPARISON: JOE JOHNSON/ BETTER ATHLETE, WEAKER SHOOTER— RON ARTEST WITH BETTER ATHLETICISM

PLAYER SUMMARY: Brown teams with Ivan Rabb to form a fantastic freshmen duo for the Bears. He is a phenomenal athlete and is a highlight reel waiting to happen. He has great size for the small forward position. At this point in time, Brown is a good shooter with good mechanics, although he will need to improve when me makes the leap to the NBA.

At 6’7 he is a great rebounder. This jumps out when watching him on t.v. and film. Not surprisingly, Brown is at his best when in transition as he can use his athletic ability to make a difference on both ends of the court. The freshmen shows tremendous promise on the defensive end. He has everything you want out of a defensive player. He shows the ability to guard multiple positions, which will suit him well in the NBA. By all accounts he is known as a very good kid on and off the court. This will only benefit him when he gets dissected by scouts and general managers.

Brown needs to improve his ball-handling to keep opposing defenders honest. At this point in his development, his ball-handling is shaky. While a good shooter, he needs to be more consistent with his jump-shot. He can try and force the issue when driving and turn the ball over, which is why his handle and decision-making must develop.

Brown has really stood out to me this season. I have watched into the early mornings looking at Brown and his teammate, Ivan Rabb. I think Brown has the potential to be an excellent NBA player. It is definitely going to take time with him. However, he is such an excellent athlete and just has to harness his tools and keep working on his deficiencies. Jaylen Brown will probably hear his name called within the first 5 picks of the 2016 NBA Draft.
