PLAYER SUMMARY: James Webb started his college career at a junior college before making his way to Boise State. Not a highly recruited out of high school he has rapidly improved his game and entered the 2016 NBA Draft as a junior.

We consider the Georgia native one of the more unknown players in college basketball this past season. He plays both the SF and PF position and we would label him a “tweener” for the next level. He is very proficient scoring around the basket where he can use his excellent athletic ability. He is a solid rebounder, although he will need to gain weight and get stronger for the next level. When watching game film of the 22-year old he plays with a high energy level and maintains that throughout an entire game. The potential is there for Webb to be a solid defender at the next level if he is able to add weight/strength.

Although he averaged over 15 points per game most of them came from dunks and easy put-backs. He needs a lot of work on his shooting form from what we have seen. He has a very inconsistent jump-shot. His shooting percentage dropped from his sophomore year to his junior year at Boise State. At this point of his development we would consider him a weak ball-handler and average passer. For him to see playing time at the NBA level he must improve in these areas. While standing 6’9″ he isn’t a very physical player.

James Webb should be drafted somewhere in the middle of the second round in the June NBA Draft. We believe for the betterment of Webb’s career would be to play in the NBA D-League for a season or 2 so he can work on the deficiencies in his game. If this course of action takes place Webb has a chance to stick on an NBA team in 2-3 years and be a role player.
