PLAYER SUMMARY: Cousins runs the offense for the explosive Sooners. Along with All-American Buddy Hield, they comprise one of the best back-courts in college basketball.
Cousins has very nice size for a PG. As a junior last season, he was the Big-12 leader in 3-point %. He possesses a very nice jump-shot with a quick release. His overall shooting ability is on par with the best in the country, which is a major reason Oklahoma has been near the top of the standings all season.
I doubt whether Cousins is a legitimate PG and not more of a natural SG. He isn’t particular quick and his ball-handling is around average. While he does have the height needed to play PG at the NBA level, his ability to defend PG’s at the NBA level will be very difficult. I believe he is more of a PG by default at OU, so head coach Lon Kruger can get his best players on the floor.
While Isaiah Cousins has done an admirable job playing PG for a possible national title contending team, it remains to be seen what his professional future holds. He has one skill that will play in the NBA, the ability to consistently knock down shots. He will get drafted come the NBA Draft in June. The question is will he be able to stay on a roster.
