2016 NBA DRAFT PROSPECTS (BRANDON INGRAM)

BRANDON INGRAM

COLLEGE: DUKE UNIVERSITY

HEIGHT: 6’8″

WEIGHT:  195 pounds

AGE: 18 years old

POSITION: SMALL FORWARD

CLASS: FRESHMEN

2015-2016 STATISTICS: 16.6PTS, 6.2REB, 1.6AST

PROJECTED DRAFT POSITION: TOP 3 PICK

NBA DRAFT COMPARISON:  KEVIN DURANT

PLAYER SUMMARY: The number 4 ranked prospect in the class of 2015 according to rivals.com started off the season slowly. However, the 6’8″ small forward has really come on and is showing why he is so highly touted. The North Carolina native is one of the best pure shooters you will see at any level. Ingram has an incredibly long wingspan (7’3″) which allows him to finish at the rim proficiently as well as rebound. For his size he is a very good ball-handler and despite his thin frame isn’t afraid of driving into traffic while attacking the basket.

Ingram is extremely lanky and needs to put on weight and muscle to realize his full potential. Despite his 6’8″ frame he isn’t considered a great defender, mostly because he can be pushed around because of this thin frame. While a very smooth player, the 18-year old is a good but not an elite athlete. He needs to develop his play-making ability since defenses will be geared to stop him. For a struggling Duke team Ingram is going to have to be more assertive and try and take over games himself.

Despite his weaknesses, Brandon Ingram is considered one of the top prospects in the 2016 NBA Draft. His size and dead-eye shooting ability makes him a coveted prospect. Once he gains the necessary weight and muscle he will be a nightmare for opposing defenses. He has really improved his game from the beginning of the season until now and by watching him you can see he has all the potential to be a star at the NBA level. His game reminds me of Kevin Durant while he was at Texas. They both have the same body type and phenomenal shooting ability.

While it will take extremely hard-work and dedication to match what Durant has done in his career, Ingram has similar talent. Ben Simmons from LSU is considered the presumptive number 1 pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. In what is considered an overall average draft year in terms of talent, the odds are Brandon Ingram will hear his name called with pick number 2. He has the ability to be a special player.
